Plain-language terms for using Zaply Bet ("Zaply", "we", "us"). By funding a balance or placing a bet, you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, don't use the service.

Zaply Bet is a no-margin ("no-vig") sports betting prototype built on Bitcoin Lightning and Nostr. You fund a balance with a Lightning payment, back outcomes at the published odds, and any winnings are paid out to a Lightning address you provide. The odds we quote and every bet we accept are published as cryptographically signed events on the Nostr network, so they can be independently verified (see the in-app "How to verify" guide).
This is a prototype, not a finished or licensed product. It is provided "as is", without warranties of any kind. Features, odds, limits and availability can change, pause, or be discontinued at any time without notice. Bugs and downtime are possible. Nothing here is financial, investment, or legal advice.
You must be at least 18 years old (or the legal age for gambling where you live, if higher). You are solely responsible for ensuring that using Zaply is lawful in your location. Online betting is restricted or prohibited in many places. Do not use Zaply where it would breach any law that applies to you. We do not name a governing jurisdiction and make no claim that the service is lawful in yours.
Balances are real bitcoin (satoshis) on the Lightning mainnet — not points, credits, or play money. Betting carries risk: you can lose your entire stake. The value of bitcoin fluctuates. Treat anything you deposit as money you are prepared to lose.
Your account is a Nostr key created and stored in your browser. There is no email, password, or identity check. This means:
You add funds by paying a Lightning invoice; your balance is credited once that payment settles. Deposits are custodial — we hold the sats in a pooled wallet until you bet or they're paid out. Deposit limits may apply. Because a general cash-out may not be available (see §8), do not deposit more than you intend to bet.
You back an outcome at the odds shown. Your bet carries the odds you expected, and we accept it only if: the market is open (markets close at kickoff — there is no in-play betting), the selection is valid, your balance covers the stake, and the live price hasn't moved against you beyond a small tolerance. An accepted bet is locked at the live price and written as a signed Nostr receipt; a rejected bet does not debit your balance. Stake limits may apply. A bet, once accepted, stands subject to settlement and these terms.
You must provide a valid Lightning address before betting — that's where winnings are sent. Winnings are credited to your balance on settlement and paid out over Lightning; payouts depend on Lightning Network availability and a failed send may be retried. Please note: a standalone withdrawal of un-bet balance is not guaranteed to be available in this prototype — the intended way funds leave is by winning a bet. Again: don't deposit more than you mean to stake.
Markets are published at approximately fair odds with no built-in margin. This is a design choice and may change. Because there's no margin, certain patterns — for example systematically backing both sides to churn deposits through the service — may be limited, refused, or voided. Don't use bugs, exploits, automation, multiple keys, or coordinated activity to game the service.
Results are graded from a third-party sports data feed. If that feed fails, an operator may
settle a match from the official final score. Winning bets are paid stake × locked
odds; losing stakes are kept by the book; whole-line ties are refunded ("push"). Settlement is
final according to the published result. We do not control, and are not responsible for, the
accuracy or timeliness of the underlying sports data.
To make the book verifiable, odds and bet slips are published as signed events on a public Nostr relay. Your selection, stake, odds, and timing are public and tied to your Nostr key, pseudonymously, and are effectively permanent — assume they can't be deleted. Your payout Lightning address is never published. Do not enter personal information in any field.
We may suspend a market, refuse a bet, or void and refund bets affected by an obvious pricing error, a data-feed error, or a technical fault. We may restrict or close an account we reasonably believe is involved in abuse, fraud, manipulation, or unlawful use.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Zaply is not liable for any loss arising from your use of the service, including losses from bugs, downtime, a lost or compromised key, Lightning or network failures, third-party data errors, or your own betting decisions. The service is provided as-is, with no warranties of availability, accuracy, or fitness for a purpose.
Betting is entertainment, not a way to make money. Bet within your means, take breaks, and stop if it stops being fun. If gambling is becoming a problem, get support — e.g. BeGambleAware or Gambling Therapy. (Self-exclusion and deposit-limit tools are not yet built into this prototype — please self-manage accordingly.)
We may update these terms; continued use after a change means you accept it. Questions reach us through the Zaply website or our Nostr profile.
